The site is an opportunity to create new affordable homes for local people, whilst also delivering wider estate improvements. Archio are currently working with a ‘Resident Project Group’, a self-selected group of estate residents, on design proposals which were submitted to planning in September 2021.

Working with the resident group we recognised that young people were not attending meetings and were therefore underrepresented in discussions. To address this, we made contact with 'Young Advisors', a charity that works with community leaders to help them better engage 16 to 24-year-olds in decision making and service improvements.  The Young Advisors are supported us to engage more young people in the design process to find lasting solutions to the issues faced by residents.

The project achieved planning permission in February 2022, with no objections. Archio are now apppointed by the contractor to provide technical design information.
