Archio Joins Future of London: Expanding Our Co-Design Impact

We're delighted to announce that Archio has joined Future of London as an SME member, marking an exciting new chapter in our mission to transform housing through collaborative design. This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to creating homes that truly serve their communities.

Our directors Kyle Buchanan and Mellis Haward recently shared their vision for scaling up our award-winning co-design approach with Future of London's network. "Everything starts at home," Kyle explained, emphasising our fundamental belief that quality housing directly impacts mental health and life chances.

The announcement highlighted our flagship project, Citizens House in Sydenham - London's first purpose-built Community Land Trust homes. This development, which won the Pineapple Award for community engagement, exemplifies our approach to meaningful community collaboration. Through innovations like our "temporary architect's office" on site, we ensured local residents were genuinely involved in shaping their future homes.

Our commitment to co-design goes beyond individual projects. We've developed comprehensive design guides for local authorities and created a freely available co-design toolkit, demonstrating our belief that this approach can work at any scale.

"Co-design is about talking to people," Kyle noted. "The more you talk to people, the more you realise that our built environment is full of social histories. If we can draw those out, you can create a much richer place."

As we join Future of London's network, we're excited to contribute to vital conversations about urban regeneration and community-led design. This membership aligns perfectly with our mission to create housing that truly serves its residents while building stronger, more resilient communities.
